Planter Box at a glance
A Planter Box turns Wet Seeds into Flowers
The Planter Box consumes Wet Seeds and produces Flowers. Wet Seeds are made when Water touches Seed, so the reliable setup has a visible wetting step upstream and a separate Flower output lane downstream. A dry Seed is not a substitute for the required Wet Seed input.
The official page also states that only Gold and Amethelis solid pixels can pass through the Planter Box. That permeability rule is important when the box sits inside a larger chain: some material can continue through, while Flowers and other solids can create a pile if the output side has no space.
Prepare the input before placing the box
Start with the Water route, then bring Seed to the wetting point. Keep the conversion close enough to inspect so you can tell whether a shortage comes from Water, Seed, or the connection into the Planter Box. A short input lane is easier to pause when the Flower output needs clearing.
Do not scale the Water feed just because the box is idle. First check that Wet Seed is actually arriving and that the box can accept it. If Flowers are already stacked on the output side, more input will only make the blockage harder to remove.
Use a two-sided, inspectable layout
Put Wet Seed on one side and route Flowers away from the opposite side. Leave a clear tile beside the box for a Filter or Grabber and a manual access path for removing material. Avoid burying the Planter Box inside a solid wall of conveyors; the permeability rule is easiest to understand when you can see both sides.
The box can be part of the early Gold chain identified in the Beginner's Guide, alongside the Shaker and Kinetic Press. Reserve space for those related stages without assuming their exact spacing or ratio. A flexible room lets you change the order after a patch or after observing how your terrain behaves.
Understand its role in Gold production
The Planter Box is one of three core structures named in the official Gold Production context. Its Flower output can lead into the Amethelis path, while the Shaker and Kinetic Press handle other parts of the broader Gold and Seed loop. Treat the three machines as connected modules with their own buffers, not one inseparable block.
Gold and Amethelis can pass through the Planter Box according to the official rule. That allows a carefully placed box to sit in a route without trapping those specific solid pixels. It does not mean every by-product will pass, so keep an output destination for materials that stop at the box.
Fix common Planter Box blockages
- Check that the input is Wet Seed, not dry Seed.
- Inspect the Water-to-Seed contact point before replacing the box.
- Clear Flowers before increasing upstream supply.
- Keep a Filter or Grabber accessible on the output side.
- Separate pipe routes from the solid Flower lane.
If only Gold or Amethelis continues while another material stops, that can be the documented permeability behavior rather than a broken machine. Move the blocked material to a dedicated lane, then retest with one input at a time.
Leave room for updates
The Planter Box page and Beginner's Guide are the current authority for names and interactions. Early Access can change building behavior, so verify the permeability rule and Gold-chain context after updates. This article does not add an unsupported production number or character name.
Check the placement before scaling
Test one Wet Seed and watch the Flower exit before copying the box. Confirm that Gold and Amethelis pass through as documented, while the rest of the solid stream has a destination. If a copied box behaves differently, compare the surrounding terrain and the active game version first.
Make the box a reusable module
A compact module contains the Water connection, Seed wetting point, Planter Box, Flower buffer, and a clear maintenance tile. Keep those pieces together when using blueprints, but leave the final Amethelis or Gold route outside the module so the same box can fit different factory rooms.
